Natalie Peoples, 18, attended Chilton County High School and will attend Troy University this fall. She is the daughter of Jessie and Lori Peoples of Clanton. She has a 13-year-old brother named Keilan.
PEACH LIVING MAGAZINE: How did it feel to be crowned Chilton County’s first Miss Relay For Life in April?
NATALIE PEOPLES: It was an honor to be named the queen for such a wonderful cause, especially with the history of cancer in my family.
PL: Why did you decide to enter the 2014 Miss Relay For Life Pageant?
NP: I knew it would be an honor to represent Relay For Life because it’s such a worthy organization and brings awareness to its cause.
PL: What are your responsibilities and goals during your reign?
NP: Throughout my reign, I am to represent Relay For Life and promote it. It’s my goal to impact people as much as possible and raise awareness.
PL: Have you participated in pageants before this?
NP: I have participated in many pageants prior to Miss Relay For Life, such as CCHS Beauty Nights, Swedish Festival and Miss Peach. I have placed in several and also was named Miss Peach swimwear winner.
PL: What clubs or groups are you involved with at school or in the community?
NP: During school, I was a part of the Student Government Association, Juniorettes, Beta Club, National Honor Society, DECA, Tiger Mart, Computer Club, Science Club and the Calculus Club.
PL: What extracurricular activities are you involved with?
NP: I was a cheerleader for CCHS and a cheer coach for a studio in town.
PL: What are your plans after graduation?
NP: After graduation, I’m going on a trip to the Bahamas, and then enjoy my summer before starting college this fall at Troy University.
PL: What are your hobbies?
NP: My hobbies include fishing, working out and enjoying life. I love to be involved with the community as well.
PL: Where do you see yourself in five years?
NP: In five years, I see myself working in the medical field, probably engaged or married. I would also like to be traveling to places around the world.
PL: If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would you go, and what would you do?
NP: My dream vacation is to Bora Bora. I would love to have a relaxing time on the beaches, snorkeling the ocean and enjoy the beautiful tropics.
PL: What is something many people might not know about you?
NP: Many people do not know that I love classic country from the ’70s and ’80s.
PL: What is your favorite musical artist or group?
NP: My favorite artist would be Justin Moore.
PL: If you could have a superpower, what would it be, and why?
NP: The power to heal. That would enable me to heal people who are sick and struggling with life’s challenges.
PL: What is your favorite quote?
NP: My favorite quote is: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” –Eleanor Roosevelt
PL: What is your favorite thing about Chilton County?
NP: My favorite thing about Chilton County is the country-style atmosphere and of course the peaches.
