What honors have you received?

CC: I’ve been a scholars bowl top scorer in my JV year and my varsity year, so last year, in 2009 and 2011. I’m a three-time state champion in weightlifting with my school, and individual fourth place twice, my junior year and this year, by weight classification. Fourth place in the 148 class last year, 2011, and this year, 2012, in the 165 class.

Do you know where you’re going to college?

CC: As of now, no, I don’t. But Huntingdon seems to be in there.

Do you have any specific fields that you were looking at as far as what you want to major in once you get there?

CC: Business administration.

Do you know what you want to do when you “grow up?”

CC: As of now, no, but going through business administration I think will open up a lot of opportunities, a lot of possibilities, with a business degree.

CC: I have several. There’s a lot of times with my friends. Scholars bowl practices, football practices, times down in the field house with my other teammates working out.

Do you have any mentors here?

CC: Definitely my coaching staff. I could say all my teachers are pretty much my mentors. Particularly helpful—I think I’d give that to both Coach Keith Williams and Coach Ginger Williams. They’ve helped me out through so much, especially Mrs. Williams. Mrs. Williams was probably like one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. She really gets you prepared for college.

What advice would you give to younger students?

CC: Definitely don’t leave school. Always stay in school. Always do your best. I think one of the sayings that I live by came from the coaching staff from football, and it’s “No excuses, no explanations. Do what we do, and get it done.”
